Leatherface VS Ghostface is a 2001 American action slasher film directed by Ronny Yu and written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. This film is a crossover between The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream series, and pits Leatherface and Ghostface against each other in the fourth and third installments in their respective series. The film is also the last only in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series before it was rebooted.
In the film, set years after the events of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation and Scream 3, Leatherface (Robert Jacks) has grown incapable of killing people as the citzens of Texas, USA, have mostly forgotten about him for unknown reasons. To begin his new murder spree, Leatherface resurrects Ghostface (Scott Foley) and manipulates him into traveling to Texas to cause panic and fear, leading to rumors that Leatherface has returned. However, while Ghostface succeds in causing enough fear for Leatherface to kill again, Ghostface angers Leatherface by depriving him of potential victims. This ultimately sends the two murderous slashers into a violent conflict.
Leatherface VS Ghostface was released in the United States on June 15, 2001. It grossed $677.9 million, making it the highest-grossing film in the Scream series and second-highest-grossing film in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. This also marked both Jack’s and Foley’s final appearance to date as Leatherface and Ghostface.
